Parco Nazionale del Gargano


7155944599_1f302f5b61_oThe Gargano National Park is one of the green lungs of Italy, an area suitable for walking and hiking activities that has many different habitats, where it proliferates a fascinating and mysterious greenery, like that of the Umbra Forest or nearly 80 different species of wild orchids, which grow wild on the entire promontory.

The fauna is very rich: many species of birds nest in these territories, including woodpeckers, birds of prey, aquatic species; among the mammals is known the italic roe deer as well as fallow deer, wild boars, hedgehogs, badgers, foxes, porcupines, squirrels.

The whole area is suitable for many sports and hiking areas. The many centers of visit and trails, partially accessible to disabled people, allow you to explore the Park and several routes to choose from, depending on your interests. You can visit, for example, the typical farms of Gargano, placed mainly on the paths of transhumance, the hermitages of silence, starting from Monte Sant'Angelo to the Abbey of Pulsano, or admire the olive groves of the plain of Vieste and the necropolis LaSalata.

Among the sports that can be practiced in the Gargano, we mention, among others, orienteering, cycling, horse riding, trekking, birdwatching, caving.
